Once Upon a Felony
ABOUT ME
A story teller and arts educator who wants to write, share, create space where others can tell their tales. An ARTivist using performance art, working as a consultant on projects regarding reentry after incarceration and the use of arts for healing and therapeutic benefit.

“Once Upon a Felony” presented by Faerie Tayler is an ongoing fairytale series about my being directly impacted by the criminal punishment system and the struggles and coexisting glimmers of hope thereafter. It’s hard to describe because the installations & chapters of the tale have used DIY short filmmaking and the explorations of collage and animation and other chapters are more educator and consultant work with Sing Sing Prison Museum on what sort of art reflection would pair well with history tours.

The final stop of all the tours the the SSPM museum piloted this last season- people sit to my idea and I think it helped connect personal experiences to the idea of really losing such a large portion of your life perhaps the entirety of it to incarceration. Then trying to navigate reentry and just how many individuals are coming back to communities and family with much needed support.
A little late to updating my site but pics incoming!!!

I’m proud to say in 2025 I wrote a screenplay with an actual DOC implemented Re-entry Program called Reimagining Myself with RTA this last year while also having my first child: named Ever.
Once Upon A Felony….EVER after.
When I left prison and sat on a corner waiting for a ride I didn’t know would ever be there…I promised myself I would find a way to search for the people who knew what reentry support would need to be. Life goal achieved!
My DIY short film idea led to screenplay led to Professional Film &Animations paired with programming now active in women’s Facilities in NYS and soon (fingers crossed *Delaware) it’s not publically shareable but there may be an upcoming announcement of a film festival!
Rehabilitation Through The Arts is a program started at Sing Sing Prison and I will try to get the link inserted correctly:

In the end- my pieces are about freedom- the ability to represent myself and to gain artistic citizenship-by using public art as a civic function. I believe in radical expression, civic engagement, transparency, inclusion,
a DO-ANYTHING-NOW mentality, and how art can evolve our neighborhoods into more empathetic and compassionate places.
Once Upon a Felony is presently focused on producing a short film-with hopes to host storytellers: my friends and their families (also directly impacted people). Passionately available for consultant/collaborative projects of wide & creative variety. To get to know the feel for what I’m hoping for you can check out my short film first.

Seems crazy, but kids should know how much trouble they can get in before they are old enough to be in it, encouraging open communication between parents and child.
